If there's one product that's
really found acceptance amongst computer users in the last
couple of years, it has to be the flash drive. With capacities
up to 32GB (32,000MB), our portable storage has come a
long way from the 1.4MB capacity of the floppy disk.
However, although all flash drives essentially perform the
same task, like most computer components, not all of them
are created equal.
Write speeds can vary wildly, with 2GB of data taking anything
from less than 2 minutes up to over 12. Some like the Voyager
unit shown above are more rugged and able to withstand the
odd drop better. Some are waterproof and will still play
nicely if they have had an inadvertent cycle through the
washing machine. Warranty, encryption capabilities and size
are just some of the other features that manufacturers build
into their drives to differentiate them from the competition,
some of which may be important to you. Fortunately the choice
is large and there's bound to be one suited to your needs,
although designs go from the sublime to the ridiculous.
With
quite literally thousands of I.T. related products available
to buy, it's not unusual that so many people feel swamped
with the choice. With companies refreshing their product
ranges at an ever increasing rate, there is a real danger
of buying something that has already been discontinued by
the manufacturer.
At the other end of the scale, it can be difficult to ensure
that any newly released product you buy will be compatible
with your existing equipment. Sales people are often not
experienced enough to give you the right information.
At ImagineTek we have been building and upgrading systems
for over 20 years. We can help you identify the weak areas
of you existing configuration, and these are often less obvious
than you might think.
We follow the hardware and software market on a daily basis.
This helps us to anticipate future releases, to identify problematic
products and to provide you with best advice.
We are completely independent and have no affiliation with
any companies. This allows us to give impartial advice based
on the facts. We strive to provide unique solutions to each
client, based on your needs at the time.
We can also install and configure any
system, component, peripheral or software you purchase, for
complete peace of mind.
